Founded in 1956, located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, the National Institute of Technology Raipur has a glorious past history of around 6 decades. Established 65 years ago, this institute is currently affiliated with UGC India, MoE India, Washington Accord, and AICTE.

This institute aims towards the overall development of a student by imparting various practical exposures to the student. It is currently undergoing notable improvement through the World Bank-funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP).

Application Process

NIT Raipur has basic eligibility criteria to be eligible to continue with the further admission processes. Like any other National Institutes, it has certain eligibility criteria.

Being one of the highly esteemed colleges, it ends up being the dream college of several students all over the nation, but only a few are selected for the finite seats in several courses.

B. Arch admission is solely based on the ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, followed by the written Architecture Aptitude Test (APT). However, a merit list will be made category-wise listing All India Rank (AIR) of candidates, and candidates who will clear JEE Main will appear for the AAT. And the final admission will be based on the AAT score. 

Ph.D. Admission is solely based on the Master's degree along with a minimum of 60% marks. The recommended candidates by the Department Selection Committee will be called for an interview conducted by the Heads of Department. The selection will be based on their academic records and performance in the interview and test.

Results and Cut-Off

According to the seat allotment criteria through the JEE Mains results, the cut-offs change every year based on the overall performance on the national spectrum. It also varies for different and also for applicants from different categories like General, OBC-A, OBC-B, SC/ST, PWD. However, the cutoff set for B. Arch goes above 1000 for the general category candidates. There are also reserved seats for home-state candidates. However, it is highly recommended not to solely depend on this specific data as the cut-offs change every year.

Placements

As per the 2021 placement cell reports, 92 companies visited the campus to participate in the placement drive. These recruiters made 599 placement offers to the students. The activities are taken care of by a dedicated placement cell. However, due to the pandemic situations and other issues, this year's recruitment offers were comparatively less than the previous year. However, the average CTC (Cost to Company) package has increased significantly over the years, from INR 9.5 LPA from 2019 through 2020 to INR 9.7 LPA during this year. The top recruits include Infoedge, Siemens, Adobe, TATA, Amazon, Oracle, Cognizant, Wipro, and several other notable international recruits.

Campus Facilities

It is well-organized, symbolizing the grandeur of the institute, and has a magnificent building. The building alone covers an area of ​​62060 square meter's. Additionally, 35 lecture halls are included in the campus. The other amenities consist of a small canteen, cycle stand, NCC, NSS, department, a student activity center, co-operative store, dispensary, and a Marketspace. Further expansions are being made to the building for the architecture department. Boys and girls have separate hostel facilities: six for boys, two for girls. Each hostel has its own mess. There are two hostels for girls, each having a capacity of 150 and 250. The Central Library of NIT, Raipur, has a good collection of more than 1 crore documents consisting of textbooks, reference books, and back-volume journals. Students manage all the activities under the guidance of the SAS Officer and Faculty In-Charge Sports. 

The prime bodies under the sports department are the activity center and gym, which provide avenues for various sports events, indoor and outdoor games. The Sports department provides facilities for outdoor games like Athletics, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Badminton, Basketball, Baseball, Lawn Tennis, Swimming, Gymnastics, Yoga Exercises, and Volleyball, etc. The student's club hosts several annual fests or events, inviting participants from colleges across the nation. It also has a Continuing Education Cell (CEC) which offers various short-term courses, workshops, and seminars to help prepare students. 

Alumni Networks

The institute has an active alumni network, with chapters across India, the United States, and Europe. Besides, it also cooperates with different universities and enterprises. The Alumni network of this institution consists of Chief Executive Officers of several MNCs, Bureaucrats, Deans, chairs of facilities, notable politicians, artists. No doubt, NIT Raipur has a strong alumni network which invariably plays a major role in strengthening the development of students and the institute. NIT Raipur has a strong alumni network across the country.  Students and faculty members are also a part of this vast network as a memory of their good and knowledgeable time at the campus.
