National Institute of Technology was established in the year of 1964 and is located in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. It is a government-run institution for higher education and advanced research that focuses especially on technology and architecture. This institution was started as a Regional Engineering College and is one of the oldest establishments by the National Institute of Technology (NITs) system. Its architectural department was started in the year 1980. NIT, Tiruchirapalli began its architectural courses with a vision to build a world-class learning environment where challenges of the built environment can be met. The college is popularly known as NIT Trichy and has been accredited by UGC.Other than that, it has been affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education. The National Institute of Technology offers undergraduate and graduate programs to candidates in engineering, management, humanities, and architecture. Not to mention, it has also been recognized as the institute of National importance.

Admission Process

Talking about the B. Arch Programme, the initial selection is conducted focusing on the marks scored in JEE Main.

If candidates have a positive score, then they would be shortlisted for JoSAA counseling. While in the M.Arch course, the institute offers one specialization under Energy Efficient and Sustainable Architecture. The duration of the program is 2 years and it is available in full-time mode only. 

Its selection is conducted focusing on the marks scored by a candidate in GATE.

After having a valid score of GATE, a candidate has to go through the CCMT counseling process.

Result and Cut off

The results of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli are declared on its official website. This university holds entrance exams as well which one can take in prior to admission. After the year 2018, there has been an increase in the cut-off marks. The trend is followed to adjust the increasing difficulty in the exam and also increase the number of applicants so that they can be shortlisted to appear in the JEE advanced. Moreover, the cut-offs completely vary from one to another depending on the courses. Each of the cut-offs is declared depending on the number of students appearing for the exam, difficulty level of the exam, and others. 

Placement 

The placement cell of NIT is absolutely great for guiding the students in the right direction so that they can have a successful career ahead. Companies are invited and students are notified on a regular basis about the requirements. Every year about 250 companies take part in this institution's placement drive. The median salary for the undergraduate students has been estimated around Rs. 6 lakhs and postgraduate students around Rs.10 lakhs.
